I like to express myself through color, or lack there of at times. I feel a deep understanding or relationship with color can set an artist above the rest, and my works, such as the works of many before me, revolve around it. From Van Gough to Kandinsky to Pollock, color has played an undeniably important role. I like to think color can often give me inspiration for new pieces, and given access to more varieties I believe my work could be taken to another level of depth and creativity. Although my techniques may not vary to an extraordinary degree, my canvas might. I like to turn every surface I see into a potential artwork, whether it be a wall, a broken piece of ply wood, or a primed canvas, an idea I’ve taken heavily from the likes of Frank Stella, Elizabeth Murray, and the evolution of graffiti and street art over the decades. Growing up in West Philadelphia I was surrounded by graffiti and spurts of color around every corner. I believe this also heavily influenced the style of my works and where I draw ideas from. It also led me to take up street art as a young teen with the purpose of beautifying my neighborhood and telling a story.
